Shanny's Weekend Musings: March 7-9, 2014

My weekends are usually filled with alot of adventures so I decided to blog about my musings. Here is a recap of my weekend trods:

Friday: Bacchanal Opening night at Mas Camp.
I am a socaphile...I ADMIT IT. I love the gyrating and wukking up my body, so it was a no brainer that last weekend I would venture to Mas Camp for the start of the Bacchanal season.
DJ Smoke, DJ Sanjay & DJ Richie Ras played all my favourite soca tunes which kept me feteing all night long.

$900 JMD well spent! Appleton Genesis & Pure Country Orange Juice had me feeling nice!

My band says I am LEGAL!!!
Saturday: Emancipation Park & Cafe Delight
Some down time with friends is always a necessary part of anyones life & I am no different. My Saturday evening began with a one hour walking around Emancipation Park with a dear friend of mine. Emancipation Park is a 7-Acres park in New Kingston. More information can be found on it at http://www.emancipationpark.org.jm/about-us/index.php. It was refreshing to sit in the park and watch the wedding parties and families having picnics. Living in the city can sometimes feel rushed, so places like Emancipation Park gives a rather serene break from it all.

In the night, I met some Rotaract friends for a lyme at Cafe Delite on Haining Road. It was a nice chill vibe  & much needed chance to share laughs with some great people.

Sunday: Kingston City Run & Rotary Club of St. Andrew North Family Funday

Myself, My Mom & some members of my New Kingston Rotaract Family participated in the Kingston City Run. Our participation kickstarted out Celebration of World Rotaract Week (March 9-15). This year the run's charity focus was on providing sustainable support to the Homeless in Kingston & Jamaica, Event though I walked most of the race, I am proud I finished and supported the cause. Here is my time:

In the afternoon, I went to Hayfield in Ewarton, St. Catherine for the Rotary Club of St. Andrew North Family Funday. It was a refreshing experience and I can't wait for next year. Food, rides, fun activities & liquor galore! It was a big family picnic with games, rides & lots of food.

I haven't been in a bouce about for ages!

A Monochrome State Of Mind

I have always been a fan of the Monochromatic trend so I was super excited when it became fashion's latest obsession. I had found these capris earlier last month in a pile of clothes I forgot I owned and decided to rock it while running some errands the other day.

So here's my take on this Monochrome trend:

Top: Old Navy
Capri: Eddie Bauer
Watch: Gift
Necklace: Gift

Saturday Strollin'

I spent Saturday, April 27, 2013 shopping with my family in Half Way Tree. Nothing major but it's always a great time with my Uncle, his wife & my new baby cousin.

We also found a cute underwear store in the middle of Brooklyn Supermarket! I bought a few stuff because I couldn't resist 3 items for $1000 (LOL). I also bought a cute lipgloss which has turned out tho be my new fav! Check out the store & my purchases.

OOTN: Dressed to the Nine

On April 4, 2013, my Rotaract Club celebrated it's ninth anniversary (April 1) with a Cocktail party in Graham Heights. It was a great event & an excellent way to celebrate a great organization.

I decided to celebrate the festivities in gold. Hope you like!

ACMATIC Listening Session!

I am a huge Alternative music fan! It was my constant companion when I was having a rough time in my life. So I was more than delighted when on Tuesday April 23rd, 2013, I was given the chance to attend Acmatic's Listening Session at Big Yard Studio in Kingston, thanks to my amazing award winning Music Blogger friend Wade from http://13thstreetpromotions.wordpress.com/. The session began at 6:30 pm but unfortunately my friend Leethan & I arrived late (an hour late to be exact!). However we were able to catch three really good songs from the Almost Famous EP. The session was pure #dopeness, Check out the review here.

Acmatic is a band I love! I have been listening to their music awhile now &  I love that despite being Jamaican and surrounded by Reggae & Dancehall, they have been able to make music that transcends the Jamaican cliche! Their music has personality and you can't help but rock out when you hear it.

It was an awesome experience & I would do it every night in a heartbeat!

Many thanks to Wade & Leethan.
